The Process, Demystified

Homeowner Guide to Insurance Roof Claims and Eagle Star's Roofing Process

If you've never filed a storm damage claim, the process can feel overwhelming. Here's the simple version: Eagle Star inspects your roof, documents the damage in detail, writes a clear estimate, builds the restoration, and hands you the completion records. You walk into your claim with proof of exactly what the storm did, not a guess.

Your Part:

Review your policy, decide whether to file, approve the construction scope and materials, and attend the final walkthrough. That's it.

Eagle Star's Part:

The whole roofing side, start to finish.

We handle the roof and exterior inspection, the photos and measurements, the documentation and estimate, the agreed construction, and the completion records - one team, one clear paper trail.

  1. Step 1: You Call Us (or We Find You After a Storm)

After a hailstorm or wind event, call (224) 490-3939 or fill out the form on this page. Eagle Star schedules a free, documented inspection. No cost, no obligation, no pressure.

  2. Step 2: We Inspect and Document Everything

Our team inspects your roof, siding, gutters, fascia, and soffit. We photograph observed conditions, measure affected areas, and create a detailed construction report and estimate. The carrier independently evaluates coverage under the policy.

  3. Step 3: You Decide Whether to File

You review your policy and decide whether to file. If you do, Eagle Star's inspection report, damage photos, and itemized estimate are already in your hands - a clear, documented package to bring to your carrier instead of a guess.

  4. Step 4: The Carrier May Inspect the Property

If your carrier sends an adjuster to evaluate the loss, Eagle Star's roofer can be on-site with the measurements, damage photos, and construction detail, so the roofing scope is represented accurately.

  5. Step 5: Review the Carrier Decision, Deductible, and Payment Terms

If the carrier covers some or all of the loss, the policy and carrier decision determine whether an Actual Cash Value payment is issued, how depreciation is calculated, and what deductible applies. Construction scope, price, scheduling, and payment to Eagle Star are governed by the homeowner's separate construction agreement, not automatically by claim approval or an insurance payment.

  6. Step 6: The Estimate Captures the Full Scope

A first carrier estimate can miss code-required upgrades, manufacturer specs, project access, and disposal costs. Eagle Star's itemized estimate captures them, so your record reflects the full scope of the work - not a lowball number.

  7. Step 7: We Build the Agreed Roof and Exterior Scope

If you enter a construction agreement with Eagle Star, our crew completes the agreed roof and exterior scope using the selected materials and builds to applicable code. The carrier's coverage decision and payments do not automatically set Eagle Star's construction scope, contract price, or payment terms.

  8. Step 8: Completion Documents Support Depreciation Recovery

After the agreed work is complete, Eagle Star gives you invoices and completion documentation. When your policy and the carrier's decision allow recoverable depreciation, those records are exactly what support it. Conditions and deadlines vary, so review your policy and carrier communications promptly.

  9. Step 9: Final Walkthrough and Product Information

We walk through the completed agreed scope with you and provide completion records. Material and manufacturer warranty availability depends on the selected product and manufacturer terms; workmanship terms are governed by the construction agreement.

Start with a free, no-obligation roof inspection. Eagle Star explains the findings clearly and hands you the documented record - yours to keep, whether or not you hire us.
